I watched it on the PBS channel a few months ago over here. I think it was last year in November. It was so so, okay I guess. I would give it a 5 out of 10.
I thought the program was rather interesting. Seemed like Nova crammed it all into one hour. It should be an entire series. The trainees were somewhat like our newbies but with more personal baggage. At least the hardships and struggles to get through the training and then running the first marathon are reminiscent. I hope I never get so out of shape that I would have to have those experiences again.
I also think that it was lame the trainees got to run Boston ~ wow!! Couldn't they pick another marathon instead. But why Boston though!?! Boston is prestigious for the qualifying aspect. I think this took away from that especially since none of the trainees ever mentioned that the Boston marathon is a big deal!
Also, I really could not understand why so many of the trainees were injured. It seemed like when they picked sendentary people, they REALLY picked sedentary people. And why did they wear so much clothes (non dri-fit/coolmax) during the marathon? I wondered if they were overheating. I was hot just looking at them run a 6 plus hours marathon with all those clothes on. My thoughts!
