WTC apologizes for the length of time it is taking to open entries for the 2011 Ironman China. While preparations are moving forward to stage the event on May 22nd as announced, we have been unable to officially open entries due to intricacies of the procedures associated with shifting to a new venue. Entries can’t open until the event obtains the signed/chopped approval of all involved or impacted entities. We are waiting for a last approval that we believe to be ministerial. Our full China team will be in Tianjin at the end of the month and we hope to open entries in conjunction with this trip. This has been difficult period for us. We expected to have a final document weeks ago and have been day-to-day awaiting the final approval. We’ve had to be very careful not to make any statements or take any actions that result in athletes purchasing air tickets or otherwise acting in reliance until all documents and approvals are final. As mentioned, preparations for the event are going forward and we will be ready on May 22nd to produce a first-class event. Please standby. This event is worth the short term inconvenience caused by this delay. |
