I have torn my ACL (前十字un帶) and scratched my 半月板.. and I didnt know it... and A&E only told me to REST and gave me pain killers...
So I continued to play basketball without an ACL and one day, I twisted my knee badly.
I told A&E that I have injured that before and they let me stayed in hospital for investigation.
And finally after using 內 "規" 鏡 they found out I have torn my ACL... completely (then finally I know why those days i keep feeling my leg is like 條條fing)
So I undergo half year of physiotherapy (train my quads before I have operation)..
After that they reconstruct my ACL (replacing it with a piece of tendon in front of my lower leg) and clear the meniscus with operation.
After the wound was healed... another few months of physiotherapy (I didn't finish it). But I learned the basic of how to protect my knee - get strong quadriceps and balance the muscles...
Now sometimes I feel that my injured knee/leg is actually stronger than my "good" leg.. Because I tend to train it harder..
your meniscus... what is your operation going to do to it? some doctors simply CUT the part that are problematic but... it may be not as good as other method in the long run... some just smooth the part that are irregular...
I also didn't know what they have done to my meniscus... I did not have much knowledge about that (not as much as now)..
The healing process of a repaired meniscus is very slow. Most surgeons prefer removing the torn meniscus (menisectomy) instead of just repairing it. Good luck Ginny tse!

but i think repairing is better than removing... in the long run...
