That means more than 35,000+ applicants applied in just 2 days already. Last year, there were over 262,000 applicants applied.
I'm in too. To those that are planning to go, please book your hotel stay as soon as possible before they jack up the price twofold especially in the Shinjuku area. Good luck everybody. It is going to be a cold one, hopefully no snow.
Hi ~ 上野 isn't as convenient as 新宿. Most subway lines take approximate 20 minutes to travel between the two places and you have to transfer from one subway to another. The one and only one line that doesn't require tranfer is the JR Yamanote Line (山手線) but it takes a good 25 minutes. On the other hand, the hotels are cheaper in Ueno than Shinjuku but it all depends on how much do you want to spend for a night. Hope this helps.
Tokyo Metro (one of the major sponsors) once again designed the Tokyo Marathon poster for this year. It is very nice! Their website also shows which line(s) to take to see the runners at different view points. Good job Tokyo Metro !!!
Hi ~ It depends if you want to get off at Shinjuku station and walk to the start line or get off at Tocho-mae which is next to the start line (still have to walk a little inside the underground pathway). I didn't bump into anyone with the green forum shirt. We got there pretty late, almost missed the bag truck again. I was assigned to corral H but stayed in corral J with my friends. It was cold, only 4C with wind and rain. I didn't feel like running anymore after eating lots of those mini red bean paste buns. Sun came out when I was in Ginza but still pretty cold. I put a clear plastic garbage bag over me so I wasn't that wet but my socks were wet. Took lots of pictures, will post once I go home.
I am staying in Tokyo till the 9th. When is everyone going home? Going to Yokohama and Hakone the next two days.
Wow! 3 days !! We only gone to Hakone for one day (3rd) and it was very very cold. Next time we will stay in Hakone longer. I ran this morning from Shinjuku all the way to Shibuya and to Harajuku (inside the park) then back to Shinjuku again. I bought the funny colour New Balance MR 967 in Kichijogi yesterday. Which store(s) did you go in Ueno to get your Asics? All those "Asian Fit" Asics are very small and narrow for my feet. May be I can find one that fits.
My other purpose coming to Japan is to EAT, EAT and EAT !!! Hahahaha..... I should call it a marathon-eating trip instead. We are going back to Las Vegas next Tuesday night. My next marathon is the Los Angeles Marathon which is on 21/3.
