After more than THREE MONTHS, I received the reply from the organiser about transportation for family members. I attach the reply here for others' information:

Following your question on the possibility of friends and family members to be at the start of the Race, I am afraid that this is not something we recommend. The Athens Marathon Course is a point-to-point course, starting from the town of Marathonas, which is located 42km away for the city centre of Athens, and finishes in the Panathinaikon Stadium, located at the Athens city centre.

Your friends and family members may join you at the Marathon Start (using the same busses with the runners), however, the only way to get back to the city centre of Athens and the Panathinaikon Stadium which is the finish venue of the race, is to take the busses that follow the last group of runners, meaning that they will be at the Panathinaikon Stadium at about 16.00 hours, and you may have probably already finished your race. On that ground, what we suggest is that your friends and family members do not go to the Marathon start area with you, but head directly at the Panathinaikon Stadium in order to see you finish the race and applaud your triumph.
