Hi eddiebuzz,
Yes, but we are ex-neighbor now, because I moved out of Lantau Island a few months ago.
Your link to the Google map shows the entire North Lantau Highway running from NE to SW, somewhat different from the 2nd route I mentioned, which traverses the northeastern hilly part of Lantau Island from Pak Mong to Discovery Bay through Mui Wo.
In fact, I tried several times running along the highway, but failed to find any safe route that covers the entire length. Starting from Tung Chung, I tried two possible routes:
1) Run along the DB shuttle bus lane parallel to the hill on the right, but it’s an unsafe route with DB shuttle buses and sometimes other vehicles travelling at high speed.
2) Run along the pavement parallel to the coast on the left, but interrupted near Pak Mong pier by a few meters wide gap of the “Tai Ho Wan” gateway. Also, several hundred meters from the Airport
Railway depot, somewhere near “Sham Shui Kok”, the pavement is almost closed off by MTR rail (leaving very little space, too narrow to allow people to pass through safely, because it’s a near vertical cliff on the left hand side). |
