As for buying running shoes, make sure you get a gait analysis at a running shoe store. Don't just buy the pair that you like. It is ok if you just use it for daily walking use but definitely not running. There are three main types of running shoes ~ "netural", "stability" and "motion-control". After the gait analysis, the salesman should be able to tell you the type that suits you the best. You will hurt your feet/knee(s) if you run with the wrong type of shoes.
