2009 Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon (6/12)

I will be doing the brand new Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon this coming Sunday, same time while many of you are doing the Macau Marathon.  With new race director and a new course, it will feature 24 live bands with music (24 stages), themed water stations and of course the infamous Running Elvi and a run-through wedding chapel at mile 3.3 in front of the Paris Hotel & Casino where participants can get married.  This one is going to be a blast !!

You can watch the race Live on Sunday night at 8pm HK time.  I don't have the link yet, will post later.

Thanks!  I enjoy running by the Japanese Taiko drumners.  Too bad that they don't have Chinese lion dance with the drum and gong.

lvrunner ching, wish you the best of luck.  I ran the San Jose Rock 'N Roll 1/2 Marathon last month.  It was very well organized.  There were many bands.  The course was never boring.

I will also be running a Marathon this Sun - the California International Marathon in Sacramento.  Nothing special, just usually a fast course for a good time.

You too George!  It will be a fun run for me, not planning to go all out as I have Honolulu to do 7 days after LVM.  CIM is super fast, it claims it is the fastest course in the West.   I wonder if it is faster than St. George.  Anyway, good luck to you as well.

Wow, 2 Marathon in a week!  You are definitely a die hard runner.

I think St. George is faster if one's quads don't blow out after the big elevation drop.  CIM has rolling hills in the 1st half so if we are not careful, it may not be as fast a course as we like.

This is the first time they actually shut down both sides of the Strip.  In the past only the northbound lane was used.  The race is being broadcasted live by one of our local TV stations.  I don't have the link now, but once I find out I will post the link here.  

Btw, where were you in AZ?   I was planning to do the Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon in Phoenix early January but have changed my mind since.

No, I am in Vegas.  Glendale! That's just north of Phoenix.  HOT HOT and super HOT !!!  I wonder how people can live there in the summer time.

lvrunner ching, 1c wasn't that bad la.  We had -2c shortly before the start at CIM, -1c at the start, and starting at mile 5, we had up to 20mph head wind, plus wind chill that made all of us think we were running in Michigan instead of California.
