Elites to watch:
Abderrahim Goumri (2:05:30) of Morocco
Paula Radcliffe (2:15:25) of Great Britian ~ Present women's world record holder
HK runners in that race are quite old.
Are they mostly rich people who could afford joining the race?
I saw one 19 years old male runner. Most of them are white man from HK. May be they are indeed very rich. It costs $9 just to apply and then they put your name in the lottery draw just like Tokyo Marathon. The organization makes tons of $$ every year. Very expensive to stay in NYC too. About $300 to $400 US a night in NYC. You have to be in the shuttle bus by 4am and wait about 3 to 4 hours before running. My friend said he didn't start the race until almost 10:45am and he enjoyed it.
This marathon is also on my "to do" list. But I too have to save enough $$ to go there. NYC Chinatown has very good food.
Did you watch it? You can watch the entire race or video clips here again. The entire race is almost 5 hours long. There were a lot of touching stories about other runners. It almost made me cry!
