時間:  Wheelchair組 :   9:22 am
          精英女子組:   9:32 am

Would Robert Cheruiyot of Kenya be able to get his 5th crown (03, 06, 07, 08, 09???)?  Would he be able to beat his all time Boston Marathon course record (2:07:14) set by him in 2006?  He finished 1st place last year with a time of 2:07:46.  Another runner to look for is American runner Ryan Hall.  He is the only American runner that breaks the one hour barrier in half marathon (59:43).  His best full marathon time is 2:06:17 set in London last year.  No Lance Armstrong this year.

In the elite women scene, the runner to look for is Dire Tune of Ethiopia.  Tune won the Boston Marathon last year with a time of 2:25:25.  Another runner to look for is American runner Kala Goucher.  Her BQ time is 2:25:53 set in New York City Marathon in 2008.

You can watch it LIVE on webcast starting from 9pm (20th) Hong Kong time.

Armstrong is not running the BM this year.  He is currently training for the TDF.  He said last week that he thinks the French officials will ban him from this summer's event due to a recent report stating he violated protocol during a recent drug test.  BUT he is planning on doing the New York City Marathon in November.

I understand the Boston requires qualification to be considered as this is an elite race.  But how come there are people finishing around 4:30 to 5 hours?  I heard there are "invited" runners as I follow Steve Runner's podcast closely. So how does one being invited, under what criteria.  I don't think I will ever be qualified, (4:30 in this year's SCM FM...but hoping to go sub4 next week with more consistent training!)  Anyway, still interested to know.

Hi Left3 hing ~

You can run Boston too if you sign up with a charity.  Boston Marathon has a charity program (see the link).  Not only 5 hours, I have seen runners cross the line just under 6 hrs.  And there are also runners that train hard to BQ but once they get in, they want to take their time throughout the course and treat it as a fun run and enjoy it.  Afterall the BQ time is only good for two years.
