I'm the poor guy who lost the FR205.
The construction of FR405 seems better. It's using SCREWS instead of GLUE to stick the top and bottom parts.
Anyway, I used it under heavy rain many times, but I'll NEVER dip it into water.
I use 305. 205 is the same as 305 except it does not have heart rate monitor. 405 is slightly smaller but battery life when using GPS is slightly shorter (8 hrs vs 10 hrs in 305). Also, 405 can onl ...
305 is about $2500 whereas 405 is $2800, only $300 difference for new model!!
Personally, I like 305 more but its price is considered to be expensive if compare with 405.
Anyone know where I can find 305 in HK?
I checked with Gigaxxxxt earlier about Polar RS800 and they said that the watch has its own software to calculate the data. It may not be easily fit to use those online GPS software available on the internet.
What's worst is .... it is the most expensive GPS watch among Garmin, Polar,..etc

Both the forerunner 305 and 405 are rated at IPX7 standard which allows the use in heavy rain. According to the IPX7 standard, it can withstand 1m water for 30 mins. While it is not advised for swimming, there are people who use it for swimming by putting in inside the cap. See here
