So many tracks in HK to run and jog, good for the feet, nice and soft surface.
Here in Vegas, no public tracks at all. Actually nobody runs on tracks here. Everyone either goes to the gym or runs on the streets around their neighbourhoods (like me).
It depends on what cities you live in North America. Some cities have excellent outdoor running facilites, some don't. Las Vegas is situated in a high desert. The temperature in the summer would go up to the mid 40Cs or even 50Cs. You can easily fry an egg on the concrete sidewalk. Who would want to run outside from May to end of August? When I do my marathon training, I usually get up at around 3:30am and go out to do my LSD and come back inside the house before 7:30am. That is all I can handle. I don't like going to the gym and running on treadmills (deadmills). I did run last year when the temperature hit 48C at noon time. I wet my shirt and shorts with cold water then ran around my neighbourhood for 1 mile. I think I hit my 1 mile PB!! It was like running inside a sauna room, my shirt and pants were all dried when I finished.
We actually have outdoor training tracks but all belong to the high schools and they lock the gate when school is over. We do have a lot of mountain trails, very good sceneries but again, too hot to run on it during summer time.
