足底根膜炎問題..幫幫我,唔識編排幾時冰,熱敷,拉根

You can also try wearing the
Strassburg Sock when you sleep at night too.  I suffered from plantar fasciitis for over one year.  The more you run, the longer it takes to heal.

Hard to say, I suggest you go to see a doctor and ask for an x-ray, the x-ray will show if your heel has formed a bone spur or not.

Good luck!  Here is what a bone/heel spur looks like in x-ray.  The spur itself might be longer or shorter, it depends how bad it is.

Hi Wing cmui ~

I found out from x-ray that I have a 1/2 cm. bone spur in my left heel last September.  I am still running although not as fast as before.  In fact, I am running 6 full marathons this year plus one back to back marathons (2 in 7 days) this coming December again.  Yup, you can say I am crazy!  Anyway, the only way to get rid of those calcification deposit (spur) is by having a surgery.  Say, if the spur isn't bothering you, just leave it and cut down on your running.  For me, it doesn't bother me (I don't call it pain but a mild discomfort instead) until I run past 18 miles (30km) or so.  I usually stop, do some stretches and the discomfort disappears.  But every runner's situation is different.  

Here in the US, there are many other alternative treatments besides the traditional phsyiotherapy sessions.  We have talked about this subject in the past before.  Here is the link of it.

Hi,  Ultrasound didn't help me.  My PT actually stopped doing it on me after a few sessions.  He taught me a few core stretching techniques.  It is part of my daily routine thing now.  I usually do it when I first get out of bed in the morning.  It helps.

Just try to remember that what you are doing now is only fixing the current problem, not the cause (治標不治本).  You might get better soon but that doesn't mean the pain will never come back to haunt you in the future.  So please find out what caused the pain at the beginning (was it the shoes? the support?  the running forms? .......etc.) and go from there.  My thoughts.

Hi Terry hing ~

That is true only if you don't run again after you get your cortisone shot.  I can guarantee you that your pain will come back eventually once you start running again.  The BEST way to cure your PF is to REST.  No one can really help you if you cannot "忍".   Sorry, this is just my 0.2 cents.

本人因筋膜炎由去年8月到今年4月才痊愈80%,目前已回復跑步, 個中不能跑的心情只有同道人才了解,我的筋膜炎由骨刺引起,可能是跑得多或小許寬扁足而引起。而物理治療師說過度拉扯脚底筋膜亦會發炎。Ching最好了解是骨刺引起的筋膜炎還是因跑姿引起過度拉扯筋膜所造成。最好先作X-ray確認有否骨刺,才確認治療方法,因两者的治療會有不同,如是後者,可以用矯型鞋墊等來幫助覆原,物理治療亦可幫助消炎。而本人之筋膜炎是骨刺壓着筋膜,引起的發炎,所用的物理治療方法是用一台深層的吸力機不斷吸啜脚底之筋膜,另發炎收緊的筋膜慢慢放鬆。我的骨刺有1cm,依家已每晚可跑8K。不過我會跑回較短距離,改玩三鐵,減少脚步骨刺的惡化。

至於保险,我的物理治療有claim意外,我的筋膜炎用了15,000元治療費, 保險幫了10,000。打脚底消炎針, 有些醫生說會容易使筋膜鈣化,不敢使用。

I hear you, we were on the same boat, weren't we?  

Anyway, I am glad to hear that your PF is getting better and you're now able to do 8K.  I would say my PF is about 90% cured, my bone spur is also approx. 1 cm. long.  I really doubt that I will be 100% free from PF unless I give up running.  Like I mentioned to you earlier, it only bothers me when I do longer runs, but once I stretch it out, the discomfort disappears.  But for the bone spur, it is going to be there for life unfortunately.

Hi Allan hing ~ Not necessary, no surgery needed for me.  My pf has calcified and formed into a bone spur.  I am still wearing my arch support insole from goodfeet.com.  Btw, once you have an operation to remove the spur, you can kiss running goodbye.

Try wrapping your arch with 2 in. tape, it helps to support and stabilize the painful arch as well.

The only conservative way to cure pf is to stop running for awhile.  Mine has developed into a little bone spur last year....so I am beyond hope!

It usually doesn't bother me until I hit around 18 or 19 miles, I just stop and stretch it out a little.  Then take a couple of pain pills after the marathon and it's all good again.  My PT told me that over 80% of the population has developed bone spur especially in professions like nurses, postman, policemen, sales.....etc.  Not all bone spurs cause pain, that is why many people don't know they have it until seen in xray.
