Press Release - Boston Marathon - 1/17/08

特訊：波士頓田徑總會今天宣佈，前美國單車手岩士唐，將會參加2008年度的波士頓馬拉松。曾七度奪得環法單車賽冠軍的他，在2007年度的紐約馬拉松中以大會時間2小時46分43秒完成，順利獲得波士頓馬拉松的入場資格。而岩士唐身處的年齡組(35-39)裡，該項馬拉松的最低入場資格是不高於3小時15分。

岩士唐曾於1993年贏得世界單車錦標賽，包括好幾次的環法單車賽冠軍，卻於1996被診斷出睪丸癌。儘管癌細胞曾一度擴散至肺部和腦部，他最終仍能克服癌魔並歷史性連奪七屆環法單車賽冠軍(1999-2005)。現已退出職業單車的他，隨後在2006、2007年參加紐約馬拉松賽事，分別以2小時59分36秒及2小時46分43秒完成。 岩士唐表示，他會在波士頓為他的基金籌募善款。以他名義成立的基金，將會集中研究預防和治療癌症，以及改善癌病患者的生活。

第112屆波士頓馬拉松將會於2008年4月21日，麻省愛國者日舉行。賽事全長26.2英哩，路程會分為幾點：Hopkinton, Mass.和Boston's Back Bay，於早上10時正式開始。 (michaelyw 譯)....

No PB for him this time in Boston but still ended up a sub 3 on a tough course.  Armstrong finished in 2:50:58 this morning. Consider that his longest LSD since New York City Marathon (November 07) was 14 miles only.  I could tell he was tired and hurting at the last few miles.  But hats off to him after fighting back from cancer.  His next marathon will be NYC again in November.

果然係單車運動員, 雖未有突破, 以佢均速40'跑10k, 相當成功既戰略.

Boston has the toughest marathon course in North America or in the world I should say.  And there are lots of hills (up and down).   It really kills a runner's quads and calfs on the slopes.  He would have done it better if he did more than 14 miles of LSD and shed a few more pounds.  He sure does look bigger and heavier than his racing days (cycling).

唔好客氣,make sure you check out the womens finish, it was very exciting!! You don't usually see this kind of finish in marathons.

慢子兄,

Lance Armstrong is a celebrity in USA.  Becasue he is an American and he ran an American race (even though it is always won by African runners).  Nobody would have thought that he turned into running after retiring from his bike racing days.  And most important, he had testicular cancer and expanded to his brain, we all thought that he was going to die.  But he fought back and now he is cancer free.  If you go into any sporting goods stores in USA, you can find his Nike "Livestrong" running gears everywhere. A lot of people did not believe he could do a sub 3 marathon.  Look at him, he did three now and more to.  He is a superman!!  And of course Americans love their own hero.

If one day Arnold Schwarzenegger decides to run a marathon, he will get the same treatment.

Another famous Armstrong ran Boston today too and finished 3:59.  That would be Kristin (Lance's ex-wife).  Wonder who was watching the Armstrong kids?  Ashley Olsen?
